Visitor Visa
Visitor-Visa
Every year, Canada welcomes many visitors to the country by granting Visitor Visas to people who desire to visit Canada temporarily. And many visitors and tourists have used this permit to visit friends and family for a celebration, attend sporting or memorable events, or visit to experience and learn more about Canada’s nature, culture, and economic opportunities.
A Visitor Visa or a temporary resident visa is an official document attached to a foreign national’s passport as a testimonial that the foreign national meets all of Canada’s requirements for a visitor to enter and remain in Canada over a certain period.
The Canada Visit Visa allows foreign nationals to enter and remain in Canada for up to six months. This Visa could either be a single-entry visa or a multiple-entry visa. While foreign nationals with a single-entry visa can only enter Canada once, a multiple-entry visa allows foreign nationals to enter Canada as many times as they desire while the visa remains valid. Most applicants receive multiple-entry visas to visit Canada, however, an immigration officer could award a single-entry visa to a visitor under some exceptional circumstances.
Who Needs a Visitor?
If you are considering visiting Canada, you will likely need a visa. However, not every foreign national needs a visitor visa to enter Canada. Citizens of certain countries may only need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) to enter Canada. You may want to contact us to find out if you will need a visa or eTA to enter Canada.
Visitor Record
Every foreign national visiting Canada could extend their stay in Canada as a visitor. Any visitor who wants to extend their stay in Canada as a visitor (stay in Canada longer), needs to apply for a visitor record and not a visa.
A visitor Record is a document that gives status to a visitor in Canada and allows them to stay longer. This document includes a new expiry date upon which the visitor must leave Canada. Note, a visitor can only use a visitor record to remain in Canada longer and not to enter Canada.
When to apply for a Visitor Record
A visitor must apply for a visitor record before their current status expires. If you are not sure when your status expires, you may want to contact us.
